User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (OS/2; U; Warp 4.5; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020827 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (OS/2; U; Warp 4.5; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020827 Mozilla doesn't follows links with russian symbols and MSIE does. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to URL reported 2. Select in the left frame any link with russuian symbol (i.e. "Детская мебель") 3. Click on it Actual Results: Mozilla sends malformed URL and I got "You don't have permission to access /..\cgi-bin\baza_htm.cgi on this server". Expected Results: Should send correctly formed URL
OS: other → OS/2
The russian symbols are not an issue. The site has the following code: <a href="http://www.triumviratplus.com/..\cgi-bin\baza_htm.cgi?tip=%EC%FF%E3%EA%E0%FF"> When it means to have <a href="http://www.triumviratplus.com/cgi-bin/baza_htm.cgitip=%EC%FF%E3%EA%E0%FF"> (Note the forward slashes instead of backslashes). IE treats '\' as the same as '/' in URLs (which is completely wrong and breaks a number of sites). We do not, since the two are completely different.

I've just reproduced the bug, using the 6th active button ("CTEHKI/I"), URL http://www.triumviratplus.com/..\cgi-bin\baza_htm.cgi?tip=%F1%F2%E5%ED%EA%E0 does really produce different results. Direct click results in Forbidden ("You don't have permission to access /..\cgi-bin\baza_htm.cgi on this server."); choosing "Open link in new window" from Mozilla context menu, or direct typing http://www.triumviratplus.com/../cgi-bin/baza_htm.cgi?tip=%F1%F2%E5%ED%EA%E0 in address bar will bring the following: ============== Quote begin ============== Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Invalid URI in request GET /../cgi-bin/baza_htm.cgi?tip=%F1%F2%E5%ED%EA%E0 HTTP/1.0 Apache/1.3.26 Server at www.triumviratplus.com Port 80 ============== Quote end ============== Probably www.triumviratplus.com webserver is misconfigured; but Mozilla anyway appears to be sending some different GET request depending on which frame is the target for hyperlink address, thus producing different results.
http://www.triumviratplus.com/cgi-bin/baza_htm.cgitip=%EC%FF%E3%EA%E0%FF provided in Additional Comment #2 From Boris Zbarsky (2002-09-09 02:29) is incorrect (containing a typo) and results in Error 404; http://www.triumviratplus.com/cgi-bin/baza_htm.cgi?tip=%EC%FF%E3%EA%E0%FF should be used instead. And, yes, http://www.triumviratplus.com/fr.htm has incorrect hyperlinks using backslashes and will work with MSIE only. Probably webmaster's trick to build a MSIE-dedicated website? ;-)
