Expected results:

Component: Untriaged → General
Product: Thunderbird → Calendar
Summary: unbale to save recurring appointment, while editing single appointment → unable to save recurring appointment, while editing single appointment
Version: 78 → unspecified

I created a reoccurring test event with a description starting today and reoccurring daily until 11/25 in my local Home calendar.
Selected the event on 11/16 and edited only that occurrence.
Added a Location to that event.
Quit Thunderbird and restarted.
The edited event on 11/16 was missing the Description and Location.
All other unedited events retained the data.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:78.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/78.4.3

So I'm seeing only the edited bug losing data and not the other events.
Reporter does that match your observations?

(In reply to memic from comment #2)

yes WaltS48 thats correct.

Thanks!

Also reproducible using TB 78.4.3 on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Linux and loses the Category setting.

It appears that once you edit a single occurrence of a reoccurring event it is no longer associated with those events.

I tried editing all occurrences and the previously single edited event did not change.

Just tested using the Ubuntu supplied 68.10.0 on Ubuntu 18.04 and the single edited message loses the Description after a restart of Thunderbird, but not the Location.

Changed the Location in all reoccurring events and the single edited message did not update after a Save and Close or a restart.

Keywords: regression

I have been having this problem since a few updates ago. Today, I decided to try a clean install in case it was a corrupted profile or install, but the same issue persists.

Using v78.4.3

Since two updates ago my recurring tasks have been broken. The behavior used to be:

Create task
Set recurring to whatever interval (1 month)
When task is checked off, the next one would appear in list with X (30) days until due.

Now, when tasks are checked, the task is marked completed and does not recur. Sometimes, oddly, you cannot even check the task.

I have the same bug. Interestingly, it seems that the changes do synchronize across devices - I do see the added description on my phone, for example.

Possibly related to this bug I reported a while ago, since it also has to do with changing single occurrences' location of a recurring event: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1595332
