Details
I got this error on startup after having a system panic. No, chimera was not
already running. OK, so I looked around for a lock file and found that there was
indeed one. I'm sorry, this was a few days ago, so probably the 0908 build, and
I don't remember exactly where the lock file was. But anyway, I deleted it and
chimera startup up OK after that.
I remembered because someone on versiontracker complained about the same thing.
For a naive user this is a showstopper (although I suspect it happens only rarely).

actually there are 3 complaints that look like this problem on vt.
