Details

Restoring the previous session with windows spread across multiple virtual desktops works with X11 and XWayland but not Wayland (MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1) on Ubuntu 20.10 with dynamic workspaces disabled. Windows from the previous session are always restored to the current desktop instead of their respective virtual desktops.

It's because this feature is not supported by Wayland compositors.

@Kestrel I would also elaborate here: this feature doesn't really belong outside the compositor. This is because compositors themselves provide ability to configure remembering and restoring windows placement. Having such functional inside an app like Firefox would be α) a conflict and β) a duplicated functional. Your report really belong to whatever compositor you're using, I presume it is mutter.
