User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:78.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/78.0
Steps to reproduce:
within a new mail window, highlight text, and try to change it's foreground or background color
in the past I used this several times a week, this feature stopped working within the last few updates/releases of TB
Actual results:
the dialog box opens, colors can be selected, but after confirming the choices made the text in the mail window stays black (on white background)
Expected results:
text or background should have changed
Please ignore the UA field. The problem is reported for macos (Mojave) and TB 78.5.1,
it most likely turned "defect" with version 76 or 78.

tried again today, 2 months later, after update to 78.7.1, the problem is still there
my take is that this effects a large part of the TB community every day
Another 3 months later, I am currently running v78.10.1, the problem still persists. It is hard to believe that this might be a "local" problem, and that other users don't see it or can't reproduce it. It's hard to believe too that fixing this problem - essential to certain types of emails - is a major feat/
Could somebody please confirm ?
Are you doing it exactly like this:
- Highlight text
- click on background colour icon to open the Thunderbird 'Page Background Colour' window
- click on 'Choose colour icon' to open mac colour picker window
- select colour
- Close the mac colour picker window - this is important (Windows OS forces you to close this, but a mac does not, so manually X close)
- click on OK to close the Thunderbird 'Page Background Colour' window
Hello,
Yes I do, I have always used the same steps, and have been using it for years.
At step 5 of your list the previously selected color is not copied into the "choose a color" box. And then in step 6 the Ok doesn't cause change.
Thank you
