If you only want to import some items from a file, finding the items you want needs to be easy. Items may be in the file in no particular order, so it should be possible to order them, and perhaps they should be presented in some order initially.
Chronological order by start date seems the most logical order, but it may also be useful to sort by other fields, such as the title.

Yes, but I'm not currently working on it. I think I might file that as a follow-up bug so this one can be closed.
