RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1682713

People

(Reporter: europa2010ad, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 11.1; rv:84.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/84.0

Steps to reproduce:

With a few website/tabs open, leave computer unattended and let it goes to sleep.

Actual results:

After waking computer, Firefox's interface becomes frozen. However if I click around and happen to click on anything that would generate audio (e.g. youtube link), I can hear the audio from the video player. So apparently FF is still working in the background, but somehow the entire interface is frozen.

Expected results:

Computer wakes, and FF resumes normal functionality

OS: Unspecified → macOS
Hardware: Unspecified → Desktop

This happens reliably every time for me as well, every morning when I wake up my M1 mac Firefox is frozen. I'm happy to collect whatever diagnostics you might need to analyze this.

This was also reported in Bug 1682713. Marking this as a duplicate but QA is investigating and trying to reproduce this issue.

Could you both please share your mac settings for energy saving with the options? Also, which Big Sur version do you have installed Matthew? Wondering if it could also be related to that, given many issues have been fixed with the Big Sur 11.1 version.

Could you both please share your mac settings for energy saving with the options? Also, which Big Sur version do you have installed Matthew? Wondering if it could also be related to that, given many issues have been fixed with the Big Sur 11.1 version.

My Energy Saver settings is:

  • Turn display off after: 15mins
  • Wake for network access (check)

That's it. I'm on Big Sur 11.1.

I am also using Big Sur 11.1. My energy saver settings:

  • Turn display off after: 10 minutes
  • Put hard disks to sleep when possible: Checked
  • Wake for network access: Checked
  • Start up automatically after a power failure: Unchecked
  • Nothing checked in 'Schedule'
