Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:84.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/84.0

Steps to reproduce:

With a remote CalDAV calendar, "Prefer client-side email scheduling" disabled:

  1. Create new calendar entry
  2. Invite attendee by entering an e-mail address
  3. Save the calendar entry

Actual results:

The invitation is sent to the invited attendee, but the RSVP attribute is missing:

BEGIN:VCALENDAR
PRODID:-//Mozilla.org/NONSGML Mozilla Calendar V1.1//EN
VERSION:2.0
METHOD:REQUEST
[...]
ATTENDEE;PARTSTAT=3DNEEDS-ACTION;ROLE=3DREQ-PARTICIPANT:mailto:support-=
test@demo.com
[...]

Expected results:

The ATTENDEE field should have an attribute "RSVP=TRUE".

OS: Unspecified → Linux
Hardware: Unspecified → x86_64
Component: Untriaged → General
Product: Thunderbird → Calendar
Version: 78 → unspecified
Component: General → Provider: CalDAV
Version: unspecified → Thunderbird 78

An interesting detail - setting an attendee as optional will result in RSVP=TRUE in the invitation (at least in my setup with Nextcloud). This seems rather strange to me (why do I care whether an optional participant is attending?!). But I do not see the RSVP field when an attendee is set to required.

This field is specified in RFC5455 under RSVP Expectation:
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc5545#section-3.2.17
