I have a little script on my computer that you can get at
http://www.majcher.com/nytview.html ... I use a form in my custom homepage to do
something like
localhost/nytview.html?http://www.nytimes.com/2002/09/12/technology/12MAIL.html&submit
and when I load that URL, it forwards me to the nytimes page with the story.
if I type Cmd-Period during the brief time I'm on the nytview.html page on my
own machine, it does nothing. It should stop me from getting forwarded.

Works fine here, unable to reproduce the bug on release 0.6.
Simon, can you still reproduce this problem using a recent nightly build?

With 0.6, yes, I can still reproduce using the given test case in comment #1.
Does this also happen using Mozilla? Are you pressing command+. before the
browser sends the redirect request, or while it's actually redirecting?

Yeah, I also get this in Moz 1.2b. I think the redirection is being done by
javascript. I attached the html. I'm hitting Cmd-. as soon as the page appears,
but probably ? after the redirect, but long before the NYT page appears.

A little html/java combo that demonstrates the bug if you send it params in the request
This is probably not a Chimera bug if you can reproduce it in Mozilla.

What is a "page-forward"? Is it a meta-refresh header, or a server redirect?
JS Engine is not the right place for this.

It seems that, if you add "&submit" to the URL, the NYT form is immediately
submitted (document.faker.submit();) when the page is fully loaded (onLoad =
"loaded()"). The unstoppable "page-forward" is probably this form submission?

Mozilla 1.x is long dead and gone. If you still see this issue please file a *NEW* bug in the relevant product (Firefox, SeaMonkey, Thunderbird)
