RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1621570

(Reporter: laszlo, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:84.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/84.0

Steps to reproduce:

I entered browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll = false and it had no effect. There's absolutely no reason to remove this function. 3.77% of the used browsers are Firefox... I'm switching to Chrome... this has become a joke. :( I guess you are doing this on purpose. Not even the feedback page works anymore. You got tired of people telling you to stop messing things up? I wonder if Google hires people to mess with this project? Whatever. RIP Firefox.

Actual results:

When clicking the address bar, everything is automatically selected. Good job.

Expected results:

The cursor should've been placed where I clicked. User in control, not some design flaw.

Unfortunately, the conversation was locked immediately after the developer actually said what the main reason for the decision was. Nobody's able to even address what these experiments are and whether or not they will actually be a good thing.

Unless there's a different place where that discussion can take place?
