Mozilla cannot handle a slash ("/") in folder names, at least with respect to importing and deleting folders. If you try to import mail files from either Eudora or Outlook Express with a slash in the folder name, the folder will not be imported, and there will be no error messages. Sometimes, the folder name is imported, but without the contents. When the folder name is not imported, there will be a false, temporary folder name (e.g. b1f3e2c2). If you create or rename a folder within Mozilla to include a slash, the folder will have problems. I did not completely test this. I did notice a problem trying to delete it. If you try to delete such a folder, there will be no error message, but the folder will appear to be unchanged. If you exit/restart mozilla, there will be a temporary folder name in the trash bin. You can then empty trash. I am using mozilla 1.1 on Windows 98, second edition. The workaround is to use a folder names without a slash.
I see the same problems on Windows 2000, Mozilla 1.1. 1) Create a new folder in any Mozilla account, and name it with a slash. 2) Try to move messages from another folder (Inbox in my case) into that folder. I get a message saying that Mozilla wasn't able to write the file, and I should check for full disk space. I was unable to rename or delete the rogue folder. So I exited Mozilla, and restarted, and the folder name then showed up as an eight digit (hex?) name, which was deletable/renamable. It was not in the trash bin, however. This also happened on import from Eudora, where I had some folders already named with slashes. They also showed up as hex after import. Might also want to look at bug #140212, which might be related. -e
