Details

See the following example below. I keep getting "no HTTPS" errors and then getting taken to a HTTPS URI. Mostly git hub like this one:

HTTPS-Only Mode Alert
Secure Connection Not Available

You’ve enabled HTTPS-Only Mode for enhanced security, and a HTTPS version of app.github.media is not available.

Learn More…
What could be causing this?

Most likely, the web site simply does not support HTTPS.
It’s also possible that an attacker is involved. If you decide to visit the web site, you should not enter any sensitive information like passwords, emails, or credit card details.

If you continue, HTTPS-Only Mode will be turned off temporarily for this site.

Summary: HTTPS only option keeps giving confusing alerts → "HTTPS only option" shows "Secure Connection Not Available" on Github

Julian, Chris, can you take a look?

Hi! Sorry, I am not quite clear where the problem is.

The site you mentioned, app.github.media, does not support HTTPS, that's why the error page shows up. Also, it seems to me that this website is not from GitHub at all.

Could you provide more details about your issue?

HI Julian but the awesome bar shows this when I click through the warning

https://resources.github.com/webcasts/Automating-CI-CD-Actions-Google-Cloud-thankyou/

indicating it IS https.

there's something crazy going on - some sort of redirect to a https. I'll explore more.

Can you provide a different link maybe, because when I visit http://app.github.media/ in any browser I land on a page with the following error

Site Not Found.

A problem occurred when we tried to retrieve your information.
Please make sure the entire link has been used in your browser, including the unique tags.
If you continue to experience problems, please reply to the email you received.

We apologize for this inconvenience.

Comment 0 shows the result but really isn't giving us any clue how you got there. What link did you click, or website did you visit to end up with that error page? Clearly you didn't go there directly because we get the results in comment 5 when we try.

My apologies I now can;t recreate so will close - until I get it again when I will provide full info
