Details
(Keywords: crash, stackwanted, Whiteboard: [has talkback ID] TB10968061G)
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2a) Gecko/20020915
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2a) Gecko/20020915 - 04
After installation from nightly/latest/mozilla-win32-installer-sea.exe,
2009091504, after opening Mail/News the Account Wizard appears although Mail
accounts and News accounts are already configured. After finishing the wizard
(no importance if going through the configuration or closing it immediately by
terminate or cancel) Mozilla crashes.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install Mozilla
2.open the Mail & Newsgroups window
3.close the Coo8unt wizard
Actual Results:
Crash
Expected Results:
Mozilla should take existing configuration.
See talkback report TB10968061G.
It does not seem to make a difference if the previous Mozilla installation (1.2a
from releases) is uninstalled before or not.
Mozilla 1.2a (mozilla-win32-1.2a-installer.exe) works ok.

Same build, but installed using talkback.zip, and no problem with mail/news.
Maybe a corrupted profile ?!

Reporter: Have you installed over an older build ?
if yes: Please deinstall mozilla, delete all files in
c:\programs\mozilla.org\mozilla [execept the plugins folder] and reinstall mozilla.

Yes, I did install over another build (1.2a from releases).
As it did not work, I did exactly what you proposed:
deinstall Mozilla
empty ...\mozilla.org\mozilla
But it did not help

Indeed, when using mozilla-win32-talkback.zip mail/news works fine, BUT when
copying the working folder (extracted from mozilla-win32-talkback.zip) to my
main mozilla folder, my main mail/news still crashes.
I tried this because I've got a lot of components installed, and I'm starting to
get irritated a little bit, because I have to remove and reinstall mozilla (and
all the other components I use) about every few weeks.
And I've got a new talkback ID for our beloved bugfixers:

For a new verification I did the following:
First same as Zarco Zwier did - same problem (depending on the usage of
Homedir/applications/mozilla/registry.dat)
Then:
configure Mozilla to use Classic or Modern theme
empty Mozilla directory with the exception of plugins
unzip mozilla-win32-talkback.zip (build 2002091804) into that directory
And I got a go!
Before that, when I was using the Pinball theme (Worked still in 1.2a release),
I always got the problems).
Now, if I try to use the Pinball theme, Mozilla switches back to Classic when it
is restarted.

-> wfm
The problem with the third-party Theme is known.
An installation over an older build can always cause problems if you use the
installer.
copying a .zip build over an older build will near always cause problems.
