In My Bugs, I know I have lots of bugs.  Some of them I can't finish because
they depend on other bugs.  I don't want to see any bugs that depend on other
bugs.  I tried an advanced query to match "Bugs This Depends On" "Contains" " ''
" but it didn't work.

I know that I'm probably doing it wrong, but I can't find the answer in any
documentation.

Of course it doesn't.  The string "''" isn't part of any bug number, so it won't
return anything.

And if you intended it to mean the empty string, every single string in the
world contains it, so it wouldn't filter anything out.

But the issue you're addressing is bug 103866.
