Steps to reproduce:

Hi, I detected this bug some years ago, when I bought a Sound Blaster Audigy Fx from Creative. This sound card can confuse you because it's released under the Sound Blaster brand, but it's just a powered Realtek ALC898 chip.

Everything I do with the Realtek ALC898/Sound Blaster Audigy Fx works less Firefox. But well, I'm lying. Firefox works correctly in first place, but it breaks the sound of my Linux system (I tried Manjaro, Arch Linux, Fedora and Ubuntu, but now I'm using Fedora 33 Workstation) when I open the Reader View mode.

I don't know if it's easy to find a Sound Blaster Audigy Fx in USA, but in Spain it's still sold through Amazon and it's a cheap sound card. I bought it because the ALC1220 embedded in the motherboard is a bag filled of problems.

Actual results:

The sound keeps broken until some time after closing Firefox. You can check the situation downloading this video (sorry for the poor quality). https://drive.google.com/file/d/1i2QfArCEdpsahAXz6z60uNXiYXt33QjH/view?usp=sharing

Expected results:

Obviously, I hope to get a clean sound in every situation, even after opening the Reader View mode.

I share the basic info I get from alsamixer and the package of the Sound Blaster Audigy Fx in case someone is interested to buy and test it.

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

Component: Untriaged → Reader Mode
Product: Firefox → Toolkit

If you go to about:config and flip narrate.enabled to false, restart Firefox, does the problem still occur?

If you go to e.g. https://example.com/ and in the devtools console (ctrl-shift-k) run window.speechSynthesis.getVoices(), does the same problem occur?

Flags: needinfo?(debian.rpm)

I'm closing this bug due to lack of response from the reporter. Please reopen the bug when you are able to respond to comment #2.
