RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1361838

People

(Reporter: me+dev/bugzilla.mozilla-HRqSr4OR, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:84.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/84.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Launch Firefox
  2. Wait until the Firefox synchronization process begins automatically in the background OR Firefox wants to lookup a password from Lockwise

Actual results:

Firefox prompts me for my Primary Password (Master Password) a random time after launching it. The random time might be 30 seconds or sometimes even 10 minutes. Firefox might be in the background but the prompt will gain focus disturbing anything I'm currently doing (surfing in Firefox or working with another application).
While working with another application, the prompt may be ignored but it still disturbs me. While surfing the web using Firefox it prevents me from further surfing until I entered my password.

Expected results:

Please ask for the Primary Password directly after launching Firefox (as sort of a "lock" preventing you to use Firefox). For a heavy user like me who starts Firefox after bootup and closes it before shutdown, it will not disturb my workflow if Firefox asks me directly after launching it but I really hate it that it prompts me for the password while I was starting to work.
If you think it might be more disturbing to other users to prompt for the password at login, restrict this feature to users having sync enabled (which I think causes my issue that the prompt appears even while I was ignoring Firefox) or add a checkbox to the preferences so users can choice how Firefox should behave here.
