User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:85.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/85.0
Steps to reproduce:
Hey, this issue surrounds a pretty niche sound-related issue.
Most users won't be able to test this issue due to specific hardware ownership.
But the problem is big enough for me, to, unfortunately, use another browser when listening to music, I'd love to stay in Firefox.
The Issue:
If my PC's sound settings are set to "384,000Hz" (16-bit, 24-bit, or 32-bit) Music inside Soundcloud or other media players, just won't play any sound, it only happens on Firefox.
Why is this a niche problem?
Because only a few "High-end Soundcard DAC AMPs" currently offer the "32-bit, 384,000Hz" option, that is my guess for why this issue has not yet been reported.
Why does 384,000Hz sound matter? that's a controversial topic, but it exists and it works perfectly on Chrome.
I attached an image to show which option I choose inside my PC's Sound Settings.
Actual results:
Sound won't play in music players inside FireFox, if I set my PC's "Sound hz" setting to "384,000Hz"
Expected results:
Playing sound in Media Players inside Firefox should work at "384HZ", it works at 192hz and below, and it works in other Browsers.
AE-9 By Soundblaster - Is the device I'm using.
Here's a list of other "384hz DAC" devices in the market:
S.M.S.L M6
Audio-GD – DA-8 R2R DAC
HiFime UH1
YULONG AUDIO ADA1 DAC USB
SD-DAC63110

Hi,
Like you mentioned, I wasn't able to reproduce the bug since I don't have that configuration option, but I've chosen a component for this bug in hope that someone with more expertise may look at it. We'll await for their answer. If you consider that there's another component that's more proper for this case you may change it.
Regards, Flor.

Hello. I found this thread last night as I was trying to listen to an xfd on soundcloud and no sound would output to my dac. All the websites I've tried on Firefox seemed to output sound with no issue (Youtube, Deezer, Crunchyroll).
The dac I use is a Geshelli J2 with the Amerno USB module. Firefox version 93. Laptop im using is a Dell G15 5510 (should be the intel version).
Soundcloud worked fine in edge although thats all i bothered to test it in while I was trying to figure out what the issue was.
I could only get sound to play by both changing the sample rate in the Windows Digital Output Properties for my dac to something lower than 384khz. First I tried 16 bit @ 44.1khz. Worked fine. Then I went back up to 32 bit 384khz, no sound again. I lowered the bitrate to the next available lowest, 352khz, still at 32 bit. No sound. I lowered it to the next lowest sample rate, 192khz at 32 bit. Now there was sound. I tried once more using 24 bit at both 384 khz and 192 khz. Same results as the 32 bit, no sound until the sample rate was dropped to 192khz. So i'm assuming it's something to do with the samplerate being above 192khz as the original poster suspected.

Sorry to bother you again but I spent the past roughly two weeks thinking on my actions and have realized I was being rude and belligerent.

I appreciate it [redacted]! I wish more people would respect the individuals who can hear the nuance in upsampling all windows audio to 384khz and increasing the bit depth to 32 bits, as we can hear this insane increase in quality after years of listening to the nostalgic cassette. What an invention, the warmest, purest, and most detail rich audio has ever been, and ever will be. Only by upsampling everything to 384khz can we even begin to reach what the cassette's warmth was, but only in the windows notification noises.
I can accept that not ever "individual" would have the "mindset" to discern this level of pure quality. I do not fault you, kind stranger.
