In Mac OS 10.2 the Download manager does not load almost everytime I attempt to
download something over FTP like say a copy of Chimera or Mozilla. There is
almost no indication that any download is progressing until the file magically
appears on the desktop. This is especially annoying to users of IE in Mac OS X
as it's download manager puts incomplete downloads on the desktop with normal
icons so that the only way that one can determine the validity of the file is by
getting info on it. But enough about IE. I am just stating that using both is
not a harmonious experience since thier bugs compliment each other in a negative
manner. In MOZILLA however the bug is as stated above after one gets the
save/open dialog box often the download manager will not appear so one has no
idea what is going on with the file/transfer except where is supposed to end up.
Under this circumstance the Download mangager will also no launch when
triggered from the Window menu.
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Go to a site that links to FTP downloads such as versiontracker
2.Intialize a download
3.Pass the Save/open dialog box and then begin to wonder what is going on
Actual Results:
I tried to download a DIVX component from www.divx.com/mac
recieved the file handling dialog box.
and then got no verification of what was happening until the file appeared on my
desktop. trying to toggle the Download Manager on from the Window menu had no
effect.
Expected Results:
Lauched the download manager in a visible location preferably in front of the
frontmost browser window apon selection of either open or save in the open save
dialog box.
Sounds like a dup.
