User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:86.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/86.0
Steps to reproduce:
- Disable the Windows "Print Spooler" service.
- Navigate to https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/86.0/releasenotes/
- Enter Ctrl+P to open the printing dialog box
Actual results:
The dialog box hangs indefinitely on "Preparing Preview". A page refresh or the Esc key is required to exit the dialog.
Expected results:
I expected the dialog to inform the user that the Print Spooler service has been disabled. I also expected an 'x' button on the top right of the dialog box to close it.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Toolkit::Printing' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

This seems to a surprisingly common complaint on reddit? https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/lqimww/firefox_860_see_all_new_features_updates_and_fixes/goief8h/
It's pretty easy to reproduce. I tried taking a profile, but couldn't actually see where it's getting hung up.

Any idea what might be going on with the print spooler here, Bob?

Thanks for taking the time to report this.
Looks like it was fixed by changes in bug 1699343.
It now returns with just the Save to PDF
destination.
