Details

My university uses Microsoft 365 accounts for email, and they have recently enabled two-factor authentication, which requires OAuth2 as a login method. When I setup my account in Thunderbird, there are no issues. I am brought to the login window for the Microsoft account and I can log in. When I try to setup the new authentication method in SeaMonkey, however, I receive an error message that the server doesn't support the specified authentication method, which is clearly not true since it works with Thunderbird. I have also tried to create a fresh profile to verify that there wasn't a problem with the one I usually use, but the error persists.

Please try the latest test build: https://www.wg9s.com/comm-253/

Backup your profile before you use it in case you want to go back. Theoretically it should be supported in the upcoming 2.53.7b1 already. I can't test and asked for feedback some time ago but none received: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=3069316

Ah, that was quick! I can confirm that it works in the latest beta I downloaded from that page. I'm not sure if I should mark the bug as fixed or what else.

Sorry for the latest answer. Busy with release work. Lets dup it to the 2.53.7b1 release where it will be officially fixed first.
