Details

Note

  • When the user opens the Find Toolbar and searches for a specific term and then clicks a link that loads another webpage, he will notice that the find toolbar is not refreshed (the text refers to the matches on the previous page) and the term search needs to be performed again to show correct results and highlight terms.

Affected versions

  • all late channel versions

Affected platforms

  • all

Steps to reproduce

  1. Load a webpage.
  2. CTRL+F
  3. Input a common term and hit Enter
Observe: The "1 of x matches" text is displayed
  4. Click a link that navigates to another page

Expected result

  • Incorrect information is not displayed on the toolbar.

Actual result

  • The "1 of x matches" text kept from the previous page

Regression range

  • This is NOT a recent regression since this occurs on builds as old as v64.0a1 and v50.0a1.

me: Is it intended that the term search needs to be performed again after navigating to another page by clicking a link?
Neil Deakin: I think that would be considered a bug yes.

I believe that this situation will be addressed in this bug report. If a sepparate report is necessary, please NI me.

Severity: -- → S4

Just bumping this. This usually ends up being a problem if trying to search a site that uses pagination.

E.g. searching an online distributor for a product, I would expect the search to be reapplied when I navigate to the next page but instead I have to force a refresh by doing something such as adding and removing a character from the filter
