See bug 1686274 and bug 1695528 comment 6. Activating the bundled emoji font can impact startup time, but the amount of impact is highly variable depending on details of the system, other installed software, how busy the machine is, etc.

So it would be good to have a probe that reports what users are experiencing in the wild, to help us assess how much the font support is costing us at startup.
