The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Theme' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

In that case I think that you should consider adding some icons, since it makes scanning through the menus much faster.

Could you share why you want the icons removed in proton?

Proton is an effort to reorganize and clean up parts of the user interface. We believe that the value that icons in the menu add is outweighed by the effects of reducing the visual noise in the panel. Our internal testing and user studies have demonstrated that users find the effect cleaner and easier to navigate.

We are using JIRA to track Proton project progress, bugzilla remains the source of truth, you can safely ignore this link.

Would it be possible to have this as an option?
For comparison, Chrome/Chromium and Safari (I think) don't have menu icons but Edge does.
As a matter of personal preference, I like the icons, but I understand the need to remove visual noise. However, the menu panel is only open when the user wants to take a specific action (settings, or add-ons, for example). Instead of scanning the text for a specific item, which takes one or two seconds, an icon is immediately noticeable.

This is very unprofessional. Lack of icons greatly reducing usability.
