Details

chimera should have "do you want to make chimera your default web browser"
dialog that appears during startup.

it should have the typical yes/no buttons, and a checkbox to prevent subsequent
nagging.
The dialog will have no use in Mac OS X 10.2 until Apple fix the bug in
LaunchService that prevents anything to take over the default web browser other
than MSIE.

I've tested with build 20020919 build and OSX 10.2.1 and the problem is still
not fixed.
This prefrence is allready adequately handled by System Prefrences (when it
works), duplicating it in the app would only cause confusion and clutter imho.
Also, none of the other major OSX browsers do this iirc.

IE does.
I can't set chimera like my default browser. It always reset to Internet
Explorer. I'm using MAC OS X (10.2.1).

I am able to set my default to Mozilla (in 10.2.1) and have it stick, but not
Chimera. Also, I am unable to make Chimera stick as the default program to
open .html files using the "change all" in the Finder's Get Info, so the
problem is not restricted to the default browser issue.

I had no problem setting it to my default in 0.5. but as soon as I started
using nightly builds, it broke.

This makes me suspect that it may be a problem with Chimera, not Jaguar. Could
it be incorrectly registering itself with the system somehow?
recently upgraded to 10.2.2, and chimera 0.6 (as "Navigator 0.6.0") now appears
as a choice in the Default Web Browser droplist.
Is this something we can take up with the Apple liason?

Summary: chimera should provide a "make default browser" dlg → camino should provide a "make default browser" dlg
Now that with 10.3 Apple has moved the abilty to set the system default browser
into Safari's prefs a first launch prompt asking if the user would like to set
Camino as default would be a good idea.
Note that with OS 10.3, the option to change the 'default browser' from the
System Preferences into Safari. Id est, within Safari, you don't JUST have the
choice of changing the default browser to Safari, but any other Browser.

(Whether or not this is a good idea is an exercise for the reader).

But, that means Camino should also replicate this behavior, lest we have to open
up Safari to make use of the feature.
Marking as dup of newer but more informative bug.
