I think we need "Small icons, Large icons, Listing, details, thumbnails" modes for dislaying directory contents. That is; I would like to see Mozilla as a file manager and shell like WindowsExplorer.
Severity -> Enhancement Component -> XP Apps (for lack of a better component - definitely not bookmarks)

Mozilla is a Browsersuite, not a filemanager. I dont think this should changed. If you mean it should be similar like in Internet Explorer, IE is integrated in the system, so for IE it is no problem to show it like in Explorer.
Lack of a unified shell and file manager is common for all platforms. And Mozilla has the technology for this. Why not use this? Some filemanager project are launched on sites like Mozdev. However they lack the appropriate resources and support hence they can not advance in a sensible pace. Clearly a well organized approach is needed to achieve this. And if Mozilla were to become a "platform" (and I would like to see it that way) it should also include a file manager/shell. While I do not appricate windows/office/explorer integration, we should addmit the advantage provided by this provides on the desktop. Also set-top, PIM, etc projects are increasingly using or at least planning to use Mozilla a their platform. They need at least a minimal level of file management capability. Why not use Mozilla that way, as this can easily bu done? Mozilla can beat WindowsExplorer at its home with its extensibility. Please think about it... Regards....
like bug 157265, this is a duplicate. filing the same request repeatedly isn't the way to get it to happen... *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 43873 ***
