lately my bookmarks keep reordering themselves, or better they shuffle without any apparent reason

can't say what triggers shuffling
Actual results:
my bookmarks (only those in bookmarks menu) change order, separators and all.
Expected results:
nothing!

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Bookmarks & History' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Thank you for your report.
I created a new profile and added a couple of bookmarks to the bookmarks menu, but I wasn't able to reproduce the issue you are reporting. I used the latest version of Firefox Nightly 89.0a1 (2021-03-28) (64-bit), Firefox Beta 88.0b3 (64-bit) and Firefox Release 87.0 (64-bit)
Could you please add more information and screenshots or a screen-recording to this ticket showing us the issue? It will help us a lot to try to reproduce it on our end and continue investigating.
Also, it will be great if you can test if you can reproduce the issue on the latest Firefox Nightly, you can download it from here: https://nightly.mozilla.org

Do you sync your bookmarks through a Firefox Account?
We know sometimes that causes bookmarks to change order, but we don't have a clear idea of what may be ther underlying cause.
