Steps to reproduce:

In the Proton theme refresh, the background color of the zoom indicator should be reconsidered.
Proton is attempting to change the background color of the address bar to gray and the zoom indicator to white for the Light Theme.
As a result, in the address bar, the zoom indicator has more contrast than the URL itself, making it more prominent and eye-catching.

Is there any reason for highlighting zoom rather than URL?
This bug can be WONTFIX if it is intentionally highlighted for good reason.
Otherwise, you should change the background color of the zoom indicator.

This is per spec from UX where good care was given to these details - I'm closing this issue as "Wont Fix" and will keep watching diary study results and foxfooding feedback in case similar reports come-up - in that case the bug would be re-opened.
