User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:87.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/87.0
Steps to reproduce:
Put something in localStorage, browser refresh, update item in localStorage
e.g. in console
localStorage.setItem("thing", 2);
Browser refresh
localStorage.setItem("thing", 3);
Actual results:
The local storage item was updated in the localStorage view of the dev tools the first and second times showing 2 for "thing". After browser refresh of page and updating thing to 3 in the code/console, the dev tools panel did not show the updated value.
Closing and re-opening the dev tools and then navigating to the localStorage view again showed the updated value (3). Further updates then show (until the next browser refresh).
See attached gif.
Expected results:
The updates should have shown without the need to close and re-open the dev tools.

I can't believe this but I can't get it to reproduce now. It was occurring as I was writing this bug report. To check what Firefox version I was running (87), I went to the about screen and an update downloaded. I posted the bug report and restarted Firefox to Firefox 88. Now I can't reproduce the bug! Could I really have discovered a bug in Firefox 87 10 minutes before I updated to Firefox 88?!!!
I'll report back here if it happens again.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'WebExtensions::Storage' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Hello,
I cannot reproduce the issue on the latest Nightly (90.0a1/20210422213157), Beta (89.0b3/20210422190146) and Release (88.0/20210415204500) under Windows 10 x64 and Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
However, I CAN reproduce the issue on Release 87.0 (87.0/20210318103112).
As things are now (not reproducible on the latest versions of Firefox), I’ll close the issue as WFM. But please, do reopen the issue in case it occurs again on the latest versions. Thank you !

That is insane!! I can't believe I found this bug moments before I updated to 88! Stranger things have happened I guess.
Thanks for looking into it. Happy for it to be closed as WFM 👍
