Actual results:

Pocket can't be removed, only disabled in about:config. Also, disabling Pocket in the address bar doesn't disable the "save to pocket" in the page context menu. Pocket doesn't belong to a web browser, there's no point of having it baked into Firefox: it should be a standalone and removable extension. Separating Pocket from the browser would also help to deliver updates without releasing a new version of Firefox.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Pocket' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Pocket doesn't belong to a web browser

I couldn't disagree more.

Also, disabling Pocket in the address bar doesn't disable the "save to pocket" in the page context menu.

I cannot confirm what you said. Disabling the option in about:config disables the context menu entry for me.

What I meant is that if you disabled the Pocket shortcut in the address bar, this won't hide the context menu entry unless you change a setting in about:config

I meant, doesn't below to a web browser in the current state: not being able to uninstall it

Of course you can't "uninstall features". But you can disable it and this is more than you can do in most other applications. If you don't like the feature, fine. You don't have to use it, just disable it and be happy. But it can't hurt you that there are features that are used by many other users.

ok, then

What about implementing an GUI option to disable Pocket (extensions.pocket.enabled)?
