Nightly 90.0a1 (2021-05-06) (64-Bit)
macOS 10.15.7 and 11.3.1

1.) Go to youtube.com
2.) Overscroll on the Sidebar
3.) Try again in the same direction.

Actual: Overscroll fails with the second time in the same direction.

Expected: Overscroll effect should always work.

A screencast is attched.

Not sure if already reported, but I noticed this issue and I thought to open a report for it :)

Thanks.

I expect you're running into bug 1709723 which is causing the overscroll to not trigger if the sidebar is already scrolled to the relevant edge (e.g. to not trigger at the top if the sidebar is already scrolled to the top).

Thank you. Okay, I check this issue again, when bug 1709723 will be fixed.

Reopening since I think this is not a dup of bug 1709723. I've confirmed that a) backing out bug 1705280 (which caused bug 1709723) doesn't fix this issue, b) the fix I just uploaded for bug 1709723 doesn't fix this issue, c) disabling scroll/wheel event listeners on Safari makes the issue reproducible on Safari as well (the overscroll behavior is slightly different though, it's wobbling).

I think this is similar issue to bug 1705699.

Are you still able to see overscrolling in the sidebar? On my end, I don't see overscrolling at all. I guess youtube has changed something not to overscrolling there.

Hi, thanks for your feedback. I am still able to reproduce the issue with the steps from the bug description (first overscroll, then fail). I am automatically forwarded to the German Youtube site. Maybe this is reason why I still can see this?

I see the same behavior with Safari. So It seems this is not a Firefox issue at all. I think we can close this.

I am reopening this issue, because scrolling is freaking out on Youtube's sidebar in latest Nightly 112.0a1 (2023-02-18) (64-Bit). Not sure, but this looks like a recent regression since this is not reproducible in Firefox Stable 110.0 (64-Bit) or in any other browser like Safari or Chrome.
