User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:78.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/78.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Press ctrl+f to open the "Find in page" search box.
  2. Search for some kind of existing text on the page until "reached top/bottom of the page" text appears.
  3. Resize the window so that the text flows off of the window.
  4. The [x] close button will be pushed off screen, where it cannot be pressed.

This mostly affects smaller screen resolutions and windowed mode.

Seems to be more prominent with the proton redesign, as the search bar is wider in the new version.

Tested on Firefox Stable v88, and Firefox Nightly v90, it affects both.

Actual results:

The close button will be pushed off screen, where it cannot be pressed.

I've attached a video demonstrating this.

Expected results:

I would expect the "Reached top/bottom of the page" to be cut off and reduced instead the close button being pushed off screen.

My report says I'm on Firefox v78, but ignore that, I have bit of a complicated user.js file lol. I forgot to mention that this was tested on Firefox Stable v88 on Fedora v34 Linux.

I can reproduce this on Windows 10 running an up-to-date copy of Nightly.
