¡Hola y'all!

Steps:

  • Join a Jitsi Meet from Firefox Nightly
  • Share a Firefox Developer window into the meeting
  • Present the window for a bit
  • Stop sharing the Firefox Developer window

Actual result:
The presenter is disconnected from Jitsi Meet when the presentation stops

Expected result:
The presenter is not disconnected from Jitsi Meet when the presentation stops

Profile:

Please let me know if anything further is needed form the profile.

¡Gracias!
Alex

Jan-Ivar, does this sound like it may be fallout from something going on in capture?

Hi Alex, this does not happen for me. Unfortunately, the profile doesn't tell us much, as it is a tool for optimizing performance.

Which button are you pushing to stop the sharing? — Did this used to work in Firefox? Does it work in other browsers?

¡Hola Jan-Ivar!

Hope these lines find you well.

Thanks for looking into this.

Which button are you pushing to stop the sharing?
This seems to fail regardless if you use the "Stop Sharing" in Firefox Nightly or the "Share your screen" button in Jitsi.

Did this used to work in Firefox?
I can't speak to this as this was the 1st time for me using this functionality.

Does it work in other browsers?
Yes, the conference organizers were instructing all presenters to use Chrome as a result.

Please let me know if anything further is needed from the profile or device.

¡Gracias!
Alex

Alex,

I'm also unable to repro (either in 1:1 conference or a 3-way conference). I've tried Firefox to Firefox as well as Firefox to Chrome, but in my case all on macOS machines.

If you have a moment, could you try this with a fresh profile? about:profiles will allow you to create a profile and launch an additional instance of the browser with that new profile to test with.

Also, another couple bits of information that would be helpful:

  • Was this using the main https://meet.jit.si/ service, or jitsi run by someone else.
  • If this happens again, please open about:webrtc in a separate tab, click Save Page, and attach it here. We may be able to see something there.

¡Hola Michael!

Hope these lines find you well.

Apologies for the delayed response here.

I finally had a new Jitsi session today and experienced poor performance.

Here's a profile in case it is useful:
https://share.firefox.dev/3kGMe67

Will attach the about:webrtc page as well.

Please let me know if anything further is needed from the profile or device.

¡Gracias!
Alex

Alex, please feel free to open a new bug for the performance issue you recently experienced, but this bug was to track your issue where the call was disconnected when sharing is stopped. You didn't mention in comment 5 whether or not you continue to experience that issue?
