User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:88.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/88.0

Steps to reproduce:

  • Installed Firefox Nightly on Windows 10
  • Selected AlpenGlow theme
  • Moved List all tabs button to the left edge

Actual results:

  1. List all tabs popup is still missing close buttons or equivalent mouse action

  2. browser.tabs.tabMinWidth 76 is outrageously small, with as few as 3 readable characters to identify a tab at a glance

  3. Home button is missing from toolbar by default

  4. No option to hide top-left drag box on non-maximized window without menubar

  5. Leftmost tabstrip button borderline invisible under AlpenGlow (light) theme

Expected results:

  1. Having the ability to directly close tabs from List all tabs without first right clicking them for context menu, same as the mute feature.
Coupled with a smarter default of static List all tabs on the left edge, it would curb the demand for a vertical tabs feature, and at least on windows when maximized, top-left is effortless to access.
Quite cheap to implement and maintain, and guaranteed to be well received (many would have done it themselves if they knew the button can be moved).

  2. browser.tabs.tabMinWidth 120/110/100 are a smarter default, more-so after everything else has been generously padded with whitespace.
10-12 tabs in view with readable titles at a glance beat having 20 that you need to at least hover.

  3. Middle/Ctrl-clicking Home toolbar button for new-tab instead of variably going towards the right edge based on how many already open tabs is invaluable.
Sad that instead of being promoted, it is hidden following chrome and poised telemetry.

  4. Proton retains the large empty drag box at top left and screws the layout, while chrome has just a tiny stylized edge. The window can be dragged by clicking the spacer on the toolbar if needed instead, so why not hide the box (by default)?

  5. Just use a more visible black for toolbar buttons in AlpenGlow since it's an onboarding theme; even better, also use a colorful menu highlighter instead of that subtle to the point of being hard to see one (example: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/foxyglow/)

  6. No comment on the tabs appearance since it's an assumed design decision.
