Something I've found myself wishing for quite frequently with bookmark groups is
the ability to overwrite a group bookmark with another one of the same name.
What I often do is visit several links that I want to read, and leave them up
until such time as it is convenient for me to do so. However, if for some
reason I need to reboot or shutdown Mozilla before I get a chance to read
everything, I want to store off the bookmarks so I can resume where I left off.
But I often want to keep re-using the same bookmark group, overwriting it with
my current working set of pages. Unfortunately, that appears to require a
multi-step process right now:
1. Bookmark this group of tabs - mouse, menu, navigate to location, and type in
a name
2. Bookmarks->ManageBookmarks, navigate to existing "working set" group and
delete it.
So if I could overwrite the existing bookmark, my work would be cut in half.
Then the next step would be if I could automate this process by designating one
such group bookmark as my official "working set" that could be stored and
retrieved with a single command or hotkey - i.e. without having to navigate the
bookmark hierarchy at all.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

I've reported today a duplicate of the same bug (sorry for the noise).
As my bug has been marked as a duplicate, I'm going to paste here
the report I did as a comment:
At this moment when you try to save the current group of tabs with
the same name than an existing one, instead of replacing it, it just
adds it with the same name.
I personally think that you should be able to replace a group of
tabs with the current tab-status. An example: you open slashdot
and linuxnews and save the tabgroup with name "weblogs". Then you
add a new tab (kurosh5n) and try to save the tabgroup as weblogs,
but instead of replacing the old-2-tabs group, you maintain it, and
adds the new-3-tabs group with the same name.
The logical behaviour should be replacing the old group, maybe with
a replace button (is better than a overwrite confirmation message).
The current workaround is deleting the old group, and then saving, but
I believe it should be corrected.
Think that people could use that "overwrite" feature to save all the
webs they're visiting in a group called (for example) "my webs", so that
they can continue browsing them the next day they use mozilla. And
after that following use, before closing, they can save (overwriting)
the current/new tab state over the same "my webs" group (and that's a
workaround for the ability that mozilla should have of restoring the
state of all openned tabs, not just the last page visited).
Thanks a lot for your time.

FWIW, I definitely consider this a Firefox RFE as well, particularly as that's all I use now, so I've changed the Component.
The main reason I came here, though, was to mention that I've since found an extension that does basically what I really wanted, SessionSaver:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/436/
Note in the comments that several people would like to see this included in the base product.

We don't have bookmark groups. I don't think we'll ever have "replace contents of folder with this set of tabs" since that's overly complex for core functionality, and serves a pretty advanced use case.
