If spoofing the UA to Chrome then it works as expected.
So I think this seems to be the site problem.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:88.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/88.0
Hi,
I am able to reproduce the issue in release 88, beta 89 and latest nightly 90.0a1 (2021-05-26) using Windows 10. Since the issue is not reproducible in Chrome or Edge, I will set this as New for visibility and waiting for the developers opinion about it. If its not the correct component, please feel free to change it to an more appropriate one.
Thanks for your input.

It's not clear to me why this doesn't work - but there's nothing on the page in Firefox, the #podpress_html5_play_1
element is somehow not created in Firefox. It's not clear to me why off-hand, as there are no JS errors - but yes, this is likely a site or library problem, and definitely unrelated to the builtin Firefox audio/video controls, as this is a custom player. Over to Web Compat for further investigation.

This appears to be a bug in the WordPress “PodPress” plugin (which hasn’t been maintained for nearly a decade, BTW).
To wit, you can see it happening on other websites using this plugin: http://jackstraw.org/blog/
I opened a ticket here (though I’m not holding my breath): https://wordpress.org/support/topic/no-web-player-on-firefox/

Hi,
It would be a bug affecting firefox only then? Because the webmaster tested with Safari and chrome successfully. So these browsers would have a workaround or something like this?

Well, looking at its UA detection logic, I’m actually amazed that it manages to work in some cases. Seems quite brittle.
