User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:88.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/88.0
Steps to reproduce:
I've noticed this on Spotify and Amazon Music, but not on YouTube:
For example: I am logged into Spotify. I click play on a Playlist
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/37i9dQZF1E8U8w1T3o1Hmi
Same on https://music.amazon.com/
Please note:
- this doesn't happen on Chrome or playing audio locally with VLC
- It usually happens only the first time I opened a tab
- I was also able to repro this in Troubleshoot mode with no Extensions
Actual results:
When I start playing a song, it will play for less then a second stutter, play again, stutter a bit more and then it's stable.
Expected results:
Audio should not stutter.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Audio/Video: Playback' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.
Thanks for your report. Could you use the firefox profiler to get a recording of this happening? If you could use the 'Media' preset from the drop down box in the profiler, then capture and issue, and upload the profiler run and share the link here, that would be much appreciated.
For Gecko developers, this sounds like it's Widevine related. I can't repro, but for audio we can decrypt in Widevine but then decode elsewhere. If we're having to stand up a GMP and an RDD process to handle media that could make us slow.
Thank you, Bryce! Hth :)
