User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:88.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/88.0

Steps to reproduce:

• Enter news.yahoo.com
• Go to some news article, so that the 'shadow' border appears (with the X at the right top)
• Middle button click above the right column (sometimes has title 'TRENDING NEWS'). See attached screen shot.
• Move mouse a bit up/down

Actual results:

Screen starts scrolling and cannot be stopped.

Expected results:

The mouse show continue to be able to control the scrolling (ie. speed and direction)
Note: This started after my update to Firefox version 88.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Graphics' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

The issue is apparently not influenced by the Smooth scrolling Preferences setting, as it also happens when 'jumpy scrolling' .

Of course, disabling Autoscrolling avoids the problem from starting. However, disabling Autoscrolling

• Cannot stop the issue once it started.

• Once a video was started and scrolls out of the screen, the 'thumbnail' cannot be closed by the 'X'. More correctly,
  it does close, but re-appears at the next scroll step.

Until now, I have not been able to find any other site (apart from https://news.yahoo.com) with the same issue.

Hi John, Firefox 89 was released today. Can you try if that fixes your problem?

If the problem persists, would you be willing to share your about:support to give us more information what might be causing this?

2. Click the Copy text to clipboard button.

• First middle-click on the page.
• No auto-scrolling at all

Clicking near the images in the right column at https://news.yahoo.com:

• auto-scroll works fine

Click farther away from the entries in the right column:

• Scrolling starts, but cannot be stopped, controlled or reversed.
  (Only sometimes, a new middle-click can stop the auto-scrolling)

My apologies for the delay.

• I installed version 89.0, and have the same problems. Now, there's another issue with the fonts on new.yahoo.com.

• I captured the screen while the effect are visible, see the attached video clips.

• I'll add the support info now.

• On installing 89.0, I tried the yahoo site with the bare 'new profile'. Same issue.
