User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:89.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/89.0

Steps to reproduce:

I attempted to watch a video on Netflix by clicking on the video whie using the Netflix website - not the Netflix desktop app.

Actual results:

Popup appears with Netflix error message F7121-3078 "Pardon the interruption. Looks like your browser is no longer supported. Please install the latest version to continue watching".

Expected results:

Video should have commenced.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Audio/Video: GMP' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Audio/Video: GMP
Product: Firefox → Core

Can you provide more info on your system? That error shouldn't be displayed with Firefox 88+ and the updated version of Widevine

Thanks, hopefully the triager for this component will be able to help with this information.

    "media.gmp-widevinecdm.autoupdate": false,
    "media.gmp-widevinecdm.lastUpdate": 1582166864,
    "media.gmp-widevinecdm.version": "4.10.1582.2",

For the me the version is 4.10.2209.1, not sure if that's what causing it. Maybe, in the meantime, try to manually check for updates in about:addons (Plugins section)?

You have to update your Widevine to 4.10.2209.1 because Widevine has deactivated all old CDMs. Turn on media.gmp-widevinecdm.autoupdate and restart the Firefox to see if the version updates.

Thanks for this advice. I updated Widevine to 4.10.2209 by setting the autoupdate from flag from .false to .true and restarting Firefox. I successfully tested viewing a video at Netflix so this solved my problem.

Is the autoupdate flag supposed to be set .true by default?

Is the autoupdate flag supposed to be set .true by default?

Yes, it should be. That pref reflects the value set in about:addons -> plugins -> Widevine plugin's manage menu -> Allow automatic updates. So setting the pref will change the value in plugin menu and vice versa.
