Hey marcos,
I tried reproducing this issue on the latest versions of Firefox Nightly 91.0a1 (2021-06-09), beta 90.0b5 and release 89.0 but it starts either maximized if that's how it was closed or in the same position (customly minimized on close).
Can you test the issue while in Safe Mode? You can find helpful info here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode .
Also a fresh new profile could help. You can find more about creating a new profile here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems#w_6-create-a-new-firefox-profile .
If possible, you can test this issue on the nightly build as well. Download the build from : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/nightly/all/ .

I'm experiencing the same issue: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:89.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/89.0
Firefox should open with a maximized window, but instead it opens with a small window in the top left of the desktop. I have to click the "Restore Down" icon followed by the "Maximize" icon to get the window maximized.
The problem does not occur when starting in Troubleshoot (Safe) Mode.
I also created a new profile and the problem did not occur when starting Firefox with that profile. However, when I went back to the original (default) profile the problem recurred.

Follow-up: Strangely, the issue appears to depend on which display is used. When I use my laptop with no external monitor, the issue happens every time I open Firefox. But when I use it with an external monitor (connected through a docking station) there's no problem: Firefox opens maximized every time.

Looks like this has been fixed in FF 89.0.1.

Issue seems to have returned in FF 91.0.

@proginosko: Are you still able to reproduce this? Some changes in Fx 96 may have changed things.

It seems to come and go. Recently it started happening again, but then stopped. Right now, it's not an issue (FF 102.0 on Win10).
