User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:89.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/89.0
Steps to reproduce:
The new format allows a pinned tab to be closed without right clicking the tab. When the tab is open, an 'X' is displayed. Clicking the 'X' will close the pinned tab. I have motor control issues and with the new version, I keep accidentally closing pinned tabs. It is very frustrating. Please remove this new feature.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Tabbed Browser' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

There is no X button on a pinned tab, the only way to close it is through the context menu.
Can you verify it on a new profile? Are you using CSS modifications, themes, or add-ons that could add that?
If a pinned tab is selected, there is a close button covering up the favicon. It's very easy to accidentally close a tab.
I'd like to mention that it is also hard to move the pinned tabs around. I keep about 10 pinned tabs running, and I like having them in a certain order.

Hello! I have tried to reproduce the issue using Windows 10 with 91.0b5 and also on Ubuntu 20 with firefox 92.0a1(2021-07-21) but unfortunately as per Francesco's comment 2 there is no close button on the pinned tab.
Could you please answer the following questions in order to further investigate this issue?
- Does this issue happen with a new profile? Here is a link on how to create a new profile: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles
- Are you using add-ons? If so could you please list them?
- Does this issue occur in the latest nightly version of firefox? Here is a link from where you can download it: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/desktop/
Thank you!
Oh, looks like it was because I am using https://github.com/black7375/Firefox-UI-Fix to make Firefox compact again, and that is causing the issue.

Hello;
The X button shows up when you click on the tab. It happens on a new profile. I am not using and CSS modifications. I am only using Google App Launcher and Norton Safe Search.

Hello;
It happens on a new profile. I am only using Google App Launcher and Norton Safe Search, but it happens when I have them disabled. I am running the latest version, 90.0.1. When you select the tab, an 'x' appears in place of the icon for that tab. Those of us with movement disorders sometimes accidentally double click the tab and it closes the tab. I have uninstalled Firefox and deleted all of the files and registry entries, followed by reinstalling it, and it still happens.
Thank You

On the new profile, could you do the following?
- Open about:support (type
about:support
in the address bar then press enter) - Use the
Copy raw data to clipboard
button - Click the
Attach New File
button in this bug (right above the first comment), paste the content of your clipboard in theFile
textarea, add a description in the field below and then clickSubmit
at the bottom.

That's weird. I installed Firefox on two brand new computers and got the same result. You do not see an "X" on the selected pinned tab? Do you still see the tab icon when you select the pinned tab?

Reporter,
Does this still reproduce for you when using a current version?
I am not able to reproduce on Mac using 110 beta.

No, this is not still happening. But now, sometimes when I leave a tab, it closes the tab. This is a random event and I am unable to reproduce it consistently.
