Firefox version 89 64 bit works normally with screen readers after installation but ceases to do so after closing and reopening. Happens on two Windows 10 machines with both NVDA and JAWS.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Installed Firefox.
  2. Opened Firefox using NVDA.
  3. Browed normally.
  4. Closed Firefox.
  5. Launched Firefox and entered a web address.

Actual results:

When the page loaded NVDA announced "Unknown" and screen contentswas not presented.

Expected results:

NVDA should have presented information on the page. Performing OCR with aNVDA revealed nothing. However, pasting a screenshot into Paint allowed NVDA's OCR facility to read the text.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Disability Access APIs' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

We're tracking this issue in bug 1714212. While we don't have a fix yet, see bug 1714212 comment 14 for a workaround in the meantime.
