Why is media.webrtc.hw.h264.enabled
still disabled in Firefox 89.0 on Linux here.
According to https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/issues/4758#issuecomment-866086712 it can make the conferences with Jitsi Meet a lot more performant.
Don't forget to add this to the "jisti-meet" if needed.

6 months and nothing but a bot comment?
media.webrtc.hw.h264.enabled
still disabled in Firefox 95.0.1 on Linux. Why?
I can highly recommend it, it has significantly reduced CPU usage on my end (Wayland/VAAPI).
I think we could enable it on desktop, because Fenix have been enable it for a long time.

I think we could enable it on desktop, because Fenix have been enable it for a long time.
It would be great if enabled, please try! Plenty of time to test in nightly/beta release cycle, very little code change. (If I understood where the config flag actually was set, I'd do it myself!)
Thanks a lot!
Today again I lost the video connection with Jitsi. I now enabled media.webrtc.hw.h264.enabled
.
I will update this bug later to let the results know. I'm using Fedora GNOME Wayland 40 fully up to date.
