When you switch keyboard layouts in OpenSUSE (using KDE Plasma as the desktop environment), Firefox fires the blur and focus events on text input elements.

Simple test page is attached. Steps to reproduce:

  1. Add an additional language layout in the system keyboard settings. You may have to log out and back in again for it to take effect.
  2. Open the attached test page
  3. Type some text into the input
  4. Switch keyboard layouts with the Ctrl+Alt+K shortcut
  5. See that the page shows blur and focus events being fired.

Firefox should not fire blur and focus events when the keyboard layout is switched at the OS level.

Tested in Nightly 91. This bug does not occur in Chromium on the same machine and it does not occur in Ubuntu or Windows.

This is Wayland issue. You don't see that on Chromium because it doesn't use Wayland. Firefox under X11 also does not do that.

Well Wayland behaves differently here and we can't fix that - it depends on compositor when it sends focus/blur events to application.
