Steps to reproduce:

1. Open a Firefox window
2. Also Open a Edge browser window
3. Run kwin_x11 --replace

Actual results:

the window of Firefox goes transparent and glitched.

Expected results:

The window of Firefox still shows original browser contents, like Edge does.

I also report the bug here because Edge browser is not affected by kwin replace. The bug seems browser-specific.

Robert, can you determine if Firefox is not responding correctly to the compositor events, or is this an upstream bug in the compositor?

This sounds very similar to bug 1712665 - Fusion Future, do you use the EGL backend by any chance?

Yes, I have MOZ_X11_EGL=1 in /etc/environment
