The "Logins and Passwords" section of about:preferences
contains a checkbox for the signon.autofillForms
preference with the (English) label "Autofill logins and passwords".
By "auto" we mean "fill in without interaction", but some people are confused because in other products "autofill" means "autotype after you select the item". Even in Firefox that's what it means when we're talking about form data autofill. Those people don't know why they'd want to turn that off.
Un-selecting the checkbox still does "autofill", but requires interaction. (If there are multiple possible logins this is the behavior regardless of the preference state). I don't know how to word this better
"Autofill passwords without interaction" // never true in the multi-login case, though
It might be easier to come up with something if we invert the meaning of the checkbox:
"Always require interaction to autofill passwords"
"Require click to fill logins and passwords"

This seems like a valuable improvement. Meridel, what are you thoughts? Does :dveditz' suggestion work for you?

Romain, FYI - is this on your roadmap/can you help prioritize? Or would Tyler be PM contact?

I don't think password autofill has PM coverage. I agree that this could be improved though I'm unsure that this has to be fixed in nightly + 1 or nightly + 2 (P2) given MR2 work, I'd suggest this being P3?
