the max-width limitation on the sidebar makes the history panel useless for moderately long URLs. http://foo.com/blah/.../query?a=b&...&x=apples http://foo.com/blah/.../query?a=b&...&x=oranges it's not hard to come up with URLs that are just long enough to make it impossible to distinguish the two URLs in the history sidebar panel. perhaps eliminating the sidebar max-width constraint or adding a tooltip (a'la IE) would do the trick. either way, if the only way to view history is via a narrow sidebar, then usability will suffer. fwiw: this is also a problem in mozilla, and i suppose it's the history dialog that has kept me quite about it thus far :-P
I like the idea of a tooltip. That would allow me to keep it just wide enough to see progress meters and still be able to distinguish the different files from eachother.

This problem aplies to bookmarks panel as well, tooltips like the ones in the personal bar links would be fine.
The tooltip over a downloading item could display the speed at which the item is currently being downloaded. That information is not present anywhere.
Cropped text tooltip issue is a longstanding Mozilla bug #32157. Since Phoenix is striving to provide better user experience, having tooltips for cropped text is definitely a step in the right direction. All existing sidebars would be able to benefit from tooltips presence. I'd propose to change summary of this bug to: Sidebars need tooltips for cropped text.
This seems to have been fixed by jaggernauts's checkin from 03/21/2003 17:43 and Scott MacGregor's checkin from 06/10/2003 21:57. Marking FIXED. Please reopen if you see any issues.
