Crash Data

The crash signature preexisted but with Gecko 91 shipping as betas, the count of affected installations jumped from ~20 to ~100. Does this signature encompass crashes previously reported with a different signature now?

Windows 8, 10, and 11 are also affected, but over 80% of the crash reports are from Windows 7. This might be because Windows 7 users have less memory and OOM more than users with newer Windows versions.

The crash volume increased a lot starting with 94.0b7, which was the first "late beta" build of the Beta 94 cycle.

The most common crash URL (after about:newtab) is https://web.whatsapp.com/. I don't see any PDF URLs in the top crash URLs.

FWIW, all crashes are on x86 CPU architecture, which means 32 Bit even on newer Windows versions, thus similar memory boundaries (and also other 32Bit only, common system DLLs).

The severity field is not set for this bug.
:dragana, could you have a look please?

Flags: needinfo?(dd.mozilla)

All crashes I have seen are on Render thread. I moving it to Graphics, if the can figure it out.

Component: Networking: HTTP → Graphics
Flags: needinfo?(dd.mozilla)
Blocks: wr-oom
Severity: -- → S3

This is a general OOM signature. No single root cause.

Severity: S3 → S4

Also top 5 crash for Firefox release and beta

I think that should have read "top 5 crash for Thunderbird release and beta". Still true today, for both 102 and 115

Moving to into Core: General because there's no specific graphics cause for it.
