Steps to reproduce:

i try to compile firefox from source. since some weeks it cant find jack:

0:05.86 ERROR: Package jack was not found in the pkg-config search path.
0:05.86 ERROR: Perhaps you should add the directory containing `jack.pc'
0:05.86 ERROR: to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
0:05.86 ERROR: No package 'jack' found

but libjack-jackd2-dev package is installed

pkg-config --list-all | grep jack
jack jack - the Jack Audio Connection Kit: a low-latency synchronous callback-based media server
