  • macOS 11.5.1

[Prerequisites]:

  • Have Firefox Release open.
  • Have Bing as the default search engine.
  • Be in a region where Bing displays ads (e.g. IT).

[Steps to reproduce]:

  1. Write “hotels” in the awesomebar and press the Enter key.
  2. Click one of the ads displayed on the search page.
  3. Go to “about:telemetry#keyed-scalars-tab”.
  4. Search for “browser.search.with_ads” and observe the number displayed for “bing:sap”.

[Expected result]:

  • The number has increased by 1 - the number of searches.

[Actual result]:

  • The number has increased by 2 - the number of searches and clicks on ads.

[Notes]:

  • The issue is also reproducible for “bing:organic”
  • The issue seems intermittent.
  • The issue does not seem reproducible for Google.
  • Attached is a recording of the issue.
Priority: -- → P3

Based on bug 1727899 and this being P3, I assume it doesn't need to be S2, but please correct as needed.

Severity: S2 → S3
Flags: needinfo?(standard8)

S3 is fine, it might even be an S4, but lets keep it on S3 for now.
