In Firefox 92.0 and in Thunderbird 91.1.1
'Print' located via 'File' > 'Print' or 'Menu app icon' > 'Print' or right click on email in Thread Pane and select 'Print'.....opens 'Print Preview' and does not actually print.
After opening 'Print Preview' you click on 'Print' to actually print.
One would look for 'Print Preview' and would be concerned it 'appears' to be missing as an option. Assuming users should just get used to the term 'Print' meaning something entirely different is not best practise.
I would suggest that all the various menus that use the term 'Print' should actually be using the term 'Print Preview', so that there is no confusion and it is correct. This applies to both Firefox and Thunderbird.
The previous PRINT menu in TB 78.x allowed for options to print selected messages in email or events in Calendar, and you could also highlight and copy what was contained in the Print Preview without actually sending it to print (e.g. for pasting into an message etc.). This is now not possible.
I am currently using ThunderBird 102.11.2 as my default e-mail application. (Windows 10).
I have noticed for several years now that the Lightening Calendar that first appeared with Mozilla Suite has undergone some significant changes; the one that affects my work is the difficulty in printing the Calendar and its data entries.
The method to print a calendar ( File > Print ) works for my needs but is rather complex, and there is a solution.
- In the "Spaces" vertical toolbar (left column), insert a Print icon to open the Print Preview.
- Allow modifying the print view as it now exists and, if necessary, make these adjustments default for the next calendar print task.
a. At all times, the Print Preview data must remain flexible for various print jobs but retain its last settings for ease of use.
I use Calendar as an essential tool to set photo shoots in my freelance photography work and include important instructions in the comments section.
Because I had no idea how to print the Calendar for a specific date, I had to open Calendar, select Edit, open the date to edit, and use Snagit to copy the page and send it to my printer.
If we wanted to get a bit fancier in printing and ease of access, we could open Calendar and select the specific date in question, then press the Print Icon in Spaces to open a printing preview.
